Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan thoroughly or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Whisk in the melted butter, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, and sour cream until well combined.
Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt directly into the wet ingredients. Use a spatula to fold everything together until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle a handful of extra chocolate chips on top.
Bake for 50–60 minutes. Let cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before serving.
