Homemade Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Dog Treats

A simple, healthy, and dog-approved recipe made with pantry staples like pumpkin puree and natural peanut butter. Perfect for everyday spoiling or packaged in a jar with ribbon as a thoughtful hostess gift for any dog lover.

Ingredients
  

  • cups Whole wheat flour or oak flour for wheat sensitive pups
  • ½ cup Canned pumpkin puree plain, not pumpkin pie filling
  • ½ cup Natural creamy peanut butter make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2-4 tbsp Water as needed to bring dough together

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie cutters bone, paw, or heart shaped
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Glass jar and ribbon for gifting, optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat & prep
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the dough
    In a large bowl, combine pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs.
    Stir until smooth.
    Gradually add the flour, mixing until a slightly stiff dough forms.
    If dough feels too dry or crumbly, add water 1 tbsp at a time until it holds together.
  3. Roll & cut
    On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to about ¼-inch thick.
    Use bone-, heart-, or paw-shaped cookie cutters to cut out treats.
    Place on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake
    Bake for 20–25 minutes, until treats are golden and feel fairly firm.
    For extra crunch, turn off the oven and let the treats sit inside while it cools.
  5. Cool & store
    Cool completely before serving to your pup.
    Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about 5–7 days, or refrigerate/freeze for longer.
