- Prepare the Baking Dish Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread your cubed bread evenly across the bottom.
- Add the LayersSprinkle the cooked and crumbled sausage over the bread. Then, scatter the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Whisk the Egg MixtureIn a large mixing bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, salt and black pepper until smooth.
- Pour and SoakCarefully pour the egg mixture over the sausage, cheese, and bread. Press down gently with a spatula so the bread absorbs the liquid.
- Chill (Optional, but Recommended)Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight. This allows the flavors to blend and the bread to soak up the mixture for a creamier texture.
- BakePreheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Cool and ServeLet the casserole cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with green onions or paprika if desired.
